G + H House

This project, near Cootamundra in NSW, tests the idea of an economical residence built using the language and technology of the ubiquitous agricultural shed. It aims to create a family house within a controlled landscape on an existing, flat and largely treeless site.

The simple roof spans across the internal and external spaces alike and we have subtracted pieces where necessary to allow light and air to penetrate. The enclosed spaces of the house slip past each other, coinciding at the buildings' heart and creating outdoor places within the set structure of the shed roof above.
